Our educators are trained professionals chosen for their dedication to young children. They respect and love working with children, helping them to grow and adjust to the various stages of their lives. Our main focus is on your child’s self-esteem, as a solid foundation for his/her development. Positive reinforcement, praise and recognition are encouraged. Developing a positive self-image that your child carries through life is an important goal for us in the Learning Tree. We believe that through caring, listening, sharing, understanding and loving, we can enhance your child’s self-esteem so that he/she may look at the world and see endless possibilities and face every new challenge with excitement and confidence. Preparing your child to succeed in school is at the core of our child care curriculum.
Janette Martinez -
Director of Needham Learning Tree
My name is Janette Martinez and I am a certified teacher with 25 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. My love for teaching began very early. Once I finished high school, I started my teaching career in Orlando, Florida in 1996. I went to school at Orlando Tech and received my CDA certificate. Throughout my career in education, my passion for child development has led me to be an assistant teacher, lead teacher, and director. Being fluent in Spanish has also given me the opportunity to be a lead teacher and behavior management specialist of a Spanish Immersion Preschool.
As an educator, my focus in the classroom is to develop and nurture a child's intrinsic love for learning, discovery, independence and sense of community.
However, my goal as a Director is to encourage everyone at the Learning Tree School, to grow in their social emotional development and work together as a team.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my 4 children and husband. I also enjoy music, dancing, and perform DIY projects around the house.

Tina Merner -
Director of West Roxbury Learning Tree
My name is Tina Merner and I am the director of The Learning Tree Preschool.
My career and love of teaching children began very early. In high school I worked as an aide in a local preschool. There I gained a deeper motivation to pursue a career teaching young children. I enrolled in the early childhood program at MassBay Community College. I put into practice all I had been taught gaining more experience and wisdom as the years past. Every day was filled with new challenges and much excitement as I watched my students mature both socially and intellectually. Later I had the opportunity to take over the preschool where I was working.
I ran a very fulfilling and successful school for twelve years. After taking some time off I returned to teaching. For the last eight years I have nurtured, motivated and educated my students watching them succeed and mature. I look forward to meeting and working with you and your child.
